Here at Pro-Ride we are passionate about motorcycles and safe riding standards on the Isle of Man. Our instructors are all professionaly trained and government registered so you can rest assured you will get the best training available.
We run a variety of different courses from C.B.T to Advanced Rider Training, we also specialise in adults returning to biking.
We ride motorcycles for pleasure and believe our lessons should be enjoyable too, that is why we custom build our riding courses to meet our individual students requirements so you will always feel relaxed and safe under your instructors guidance
We like to think of the C.B.T as a course of continual assesment.
C.B.T or Compulsory Basic Training was introduced in the Isle of Man in September 2003, it is a course of training that has to be completed in order to validate groups A and A1 on your provisional licence, and enable you to ride on the road unaccompanied.
The training is carried out on the official government site at Port Soderick, you can either provide your own motorcycle or use our training bike. If you are using your own machine please make sure it is:
The C.B.T is comprised of five elements, the first four are carried out at the training area, the final element is riding on the road for a minimum of two hours in radio contact with your instructor. We like to describe the C.B.T as a course of continual assessment rather than a test.
You are required to bring with you the correct riding equipment, ie. Helmet, Gloves a Jacket and some strong boots or shoes. The training area is some distance away from any shops, so it would be advisable to bring something to eat and drink for the day.
If you are thinking about doing a C.B.T give us a call first. Our C.B.T course is great value and the training you will receive is first class. You will be mentored by a fully qualified instructor who knows how to get you riding safely and up to standard.
At ProRide we like to work One on One in our advanced classes this way you get your instructors undivided attention and you will learn a lot more quickly.
This training is aimed either for the younger rider, or possibly a rider returning to biking. Full details can be found on the official DSA website by clicking hereOn satisfactory completion of this course, a certificate is awarded, we have negotiated with the Island's leading insurer Kestrel who have indicated they will give a discount of up to 30% on new business and renewals to riders who have completed this training.
If you are just returning to biking after an absence we offer courses catering to getting you used to riding the more powerful machines, popular today
The C.B.T training area is located at Port Soderick. To get to the training area you can drive out of Douglas on the Old Castletown road then take your next left after the I.o.M Business school onto Ellenbrook Ave, you continue along Ellenbrook Ave for about 1 mile and take your first left onto the Port Soderick Glen Road. Follow the road down and to the right and the training area is on the left hand side.
